Mighty Mouse has sent some “Kids in(to) Space” resulting in a great intergalactic disco tune. I haven’t sent the Disco Rodents into space yet, but I guess they would have loved it!
“Kids in Space” is taken from Mighty Mouses newest EP, “Disco Battle Weapons (Volume 2)”, released by Cheap Trills and can be picked up from here.

When i showed this video to the Disco Rodents, they only said on thing: “WOW!!”. Not so much because of the music, but because of the dancing! Its truly amazing and caused havoc on the kitchen floor. The clips are taken from the Indian (in Tegulu) film “Pasivadi Pranam” (1987), starring the famous Chiranjeev. The whole film (140 min) can be seen with out subtitles here.

The last Pancake Song of 2011 is a rather good one! If you have a slow morning and hungry Disco Rodents dancing around you, put on Todd Terje‘s “Ragysh” and you get up to speed in no time. Highly recommended Pancake song!!
“Ragysh” was released in April this year on the German label Running Back.

This blog Test most of its Music on Kids, and this one is 100% approved – its simply a Disco Rodent Favourite (DRF™)! When in the car press play on song number 2 on the album “Eleven” by 22 Pistepirkko, and you are stuck with “Onion Soup” for hours (in a good way since I also like it!)! The best part is the alternative lyrics: “Yeah… and Sushi Yeah…” (real lyrics can be found after the jump)!
And after a little search on the net, I found this wonderful unsynced video! Btw, can anyone tell me where the tram line 11 has had its route in Helsinki, or is it just for fun??
Update: Oki, I’m a slow thinker but got it… Tram 11 -> album Eleven

The Pancake song is back, and that with a real classic! The fifth instalment is 100% Disco Rodent approved, and caused heavy dancing in the kitchen (resulting in a few burned pancakes)!
Palace of Pleasure (PoP) is an old Norwegian band, and not some weird site on the internet (even they come up if you are googeling the name…). Formed back in 1993, and was known in their high days to play really funky electronica and disco dub.
I never managed to see them live, and thought I never would be able to… Until I saw that they are going to have a gig on the 2nd of December at Revolver in Oslo. I wont be able to go, but hopefully they will do more gigs and maybe come to Finland…
Anyhow, all the good times, dancing and memories came back with “Pink Palace”:

I guess you have had to be on a different planet, for the last 7 – 8 months, if you never have even heard a snippet of the tune “Barbra Streisand” by Duck Sauce… But where did Armand van Helden and A-Trak get the inspiration for the song? There has popped up so many songs lately containing the same sample that keeping track of them all has been hard. But lets dig into it and try to find out where the original sample comes from…
First of all lets start with the version that has plagued the earth for at least the past 6 months:
Duck Sauce “Barbara Streisand”.
I first posted this video on my Facebook wall back in the beginning of October 2010, it then had barely 250 000 hits – now it has over 55m… Have to say that the combination of small Disco Rodents, Duck Sauce and pancakes was an instant success!!! Since then I think I’ve heard at least a dozen of variations/remixes of the song, everything from using the name Justin Bieber to a pretty cool bootleg/mash up with Fat Boy Slim:
Then after the new year remixes of Star on 45 “Star on 45” started to pop up around the net. Star on 45 was a Dutch band that was briefly popular in Europe in the beginning of the 80`s. Most notable of the remixes was the ones of Olav Basoski and Addy Van Der Zwan:
So this got me curious! Two songs same sample – could there be more??? And there was! What more disco feeling could you get in late 70`s than from a Boney M. song? At least not in Norway… Somehow Boney M. was huge there, in fact Norway was the only other country than UK where their album Oceans of Fantasy (1979) topped the charts. And the song that is VERY similar to Barbra Streisand is “Gotta go Home”:
So thats 3 songs with the same sample! I was happy and didnt do any more digging in the music history. But who had thought that even Boney M. had some sampling abilities?? Not me! Guess Im to young… The other day I checked out a Norwegian House blog and what did I find deep down between some obscure and old comments? Yep, another song that contain the sample (is this starting to become my Holy Grail???). This time around its an old song from 1973 done by a German group:
Nighttrain “Hallo Bimmelbahn”:
So this is the story so far, if you have some more info about this Barbra Streisand sample please contact me and Ill update the post!
The other day I was made aware of that the Mozambican kwaito dance group Tofo Tofo, had given permission to an incredible famous female singer to use some their dance moves. You can see the moves in the video under:
Tofo Tofo dances to “Nisho Njalo”
What I think was even cooler than the moves was the tune they were dancing to. Have to say that “Nisho Njalo” by Dj Cleo is a perfect pancake song! Disco Rodents was dancing along and the pancakes became perfect. Think Ill have to check out this Kwaito music a bit more…

If you still wonder who this incredible famous female singer is, check out her name in the tags…
So what is a Pancake song you might wonder. Well Sunday mornings are pretty busy times! With small dancing Disco Rodents, making of pancake batter and of course the frying part. To make all this go smoothly there is a need of a happy tune!
So the first tune out is a Cassian song remixed by the Nightriders. Dont know much about Cassian except that his from (or based) Sydney, Australia.
