new single: Rune Lindbœk featuring Kurt Maloo “Wonder”

Rune Lindbæk will release a new single today, just a week after he became the laughing stock of the yellow press in Norway. Lets hope the urban legend that “all PR is good PR” is true and will lead to more interest for this beautiful song. At least it is Disco Rodent approved!

Update: If you find a store that actually sells a copy, please let me know! It seems like all the stores online is out of stock (even the mp3)…

If you think you have heard the voice of Kurt Maloo somewhere, but cant actual pin point it (like I did), it was probably through the Swiss duo Double and their biggest hit “Captain of Her Heart” (watch it after the jump).

Röyksopp + Susanne Sundfør = “Running to the Sea”

Lydverket is dead, long live Lydverket!

Lydverket was a Norwegian music magazine for TV that was aired by NRK between 2002 – 2012. The final show was aired a few days ago (28.11), and what a finish it was! Not only featured the show a new song by Kvelertak, but it also had the honour to reveal the collaboration between Röyksopp and Susanne Sundfør“Running to the Sea”!

I guess the two headed Norwegian monster from Tromsø doesnt need much of an introduction, but Sundfør might. Susanne Sundfør is one of the most interesting artists that comes from Norway these days! Earlier this year she released her fourth studio album “The Silicon Veil” to standing ovations amongst the dice throwing Norwegian music journalists (the album is good even the pun towards the critics…).

Sundfør is also one of the reasons that there is no gender specific category for best artist in Norway these days. In the thank you speech after winning the Spellemanspris for best female artist in 2007 she just said:

“I am first and foremost an artist, not first and foremost a woman”.

This of course spurned a public debate about the topic, which she added more fuel to after withdrawing her nomination in the same category in 2010.

The collaboration will also be released as a single at some point in the future.

Sebastien Tellier “Cochon Ville” (The Magician Remix)

A lot of signs tells us that Sebastian Tellier has jumped the New Age circus with his upcoming album “My God is Blue”. Luckily he has had some magical help for his first single, Cochon Ville” (something like “Pigs Town” in English, original after the jump), that will be released in France on April 9th and worldwide on April 16th.

The Magician will also come and spin some tunes in Helsinki soon. Somehow the bar Motellet have managed (money I guess…) to make him DJ at their place. Well anyway, Stephen Fasano will be there on April 13th, before he will do a set in Turku the following day. So its just to start practising if you want the wand for the best dancer of the night…

David Lynch remix “In Your Nature” by Zola Jesus

It seems like our favourite film “nutter” (in a good way!) is starting to get hold of making music…

After releasing his debut album late last year David Lynch has now done a remix of the song “In Your Nature” by the Russian/American singer/songwriter Nika Roza Danilova, better known by her stage name Zola Jesus. Mr. Lynch has once again teamed up with engineer Dean Hurley, and they have replaced Danilova’s own musical arrangements by a slow drawling guitar and drums.

The single will be released by Sacred Bones Records on the 21st of February and can be preordered here. After the jump you can watch Zola Jesus preform “In Your Nature” live at the Mod Club, Toronto.

Simian Mobile Disco uploads back catalogue to SoundCloud

Dont really know if they just joined, but the important fact is that they have recently uploaded almost their whole back catalogue! And I have to say their SoundCloud profile contains a lot of goodies, both remixes and their own tunes. You can check them out here.

Simian Mobile Disco is a UK based remix and production team, it was formed in 2005 by James Ford and Jas Shaw. The duo also creates some amazing DJ sets, which includes many of their own tunes. I was lucky enough to be present when they did a set in Oslo, and can warmly recommend their show!

Here is their new single “Gizzard”, that was released in early July 2011 by Witchita:
